The theme of the course will be around youth mental health, and to engage with examples of good practice, policy, methodologies.

This training is an evolution of the previous work done through the Power of Positivity Contact Making Seminars that took place in Ireland the previous three years.

The aim of this training is to focus more closely and clearly on the European landscape of Youth Mental Health and Well Being. Participants will be engaged with examples of the work being done across Europe and in particular the work happening with young people in Ireland and Finland. The other main focus of the training will be based around identifying the needs of young people around their mental health and the different tools needed to work with these young people. The focus will be around linking local to Europe on the current issues that impact young people and their mental health.

The format of the week will be based on informal activities, with input and presentations from national and local organisations.

The overall objectives of this activity are:
    – To develop an understanding of different approaches and practices that address youth mental needs in Europe
    – To explore the youth mental health and well-being landscape that exists in Europe with a focus on the comparative between Ireland and Finland
    – Meet your peers around European working with mental health youth work and develop a partnership in European Youth Mobility
    – Gain an understanding of supports available for workers working with young people with their mental health
