Young people grow up in a digitally connected world, where automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence are no longer futuristic concepts, but already a reality. For young people, the difference between “online” and “offline” is increasingly blurred. Social media and internet usage have established themselves as important parts of youth culture. What do these developments mean for youth work?

To be fair – youth workers don’t need to be technical experts when it comes to new media and technology. However, they should recognize that young people are growing up in a digital era and that they need support in navigating the online aspect of their lives.

During this 4 day conference youth workers from across Europe will be invited to learn, explore and exchange about the various forms and best practices of “digital youth work”. Through panel discussion, keynote speeches, as well as workshops and project presentations at a fair, participants will benefit from many valuable contributions from field experts and from exchanges with other participants on a variety of topics including information and data literacy, communication through digital channels, problem solving by using digital tools, online safety and many more. Ultimately, they will have the opportunity to discuss and formulate the needs and wishes of the sector for the digital youth work in presence of policymakers.
